700r4 installed!!! woohooo!!

Well, I finished installing it last night and took it for a spin around the block. The old truck runs good with the 700r4 in her. I now have to hook up the lock power. So this morning I went took cmc u pull it and got my pig tale. While I was ther I was looking for a a/c compressor And low and behold right before my very eyes sat a 72 cheyenne super. Holy **** batman!! I walked up to it thinking it was gutted and I was wrong. I lifted the hood and there it was. The hard to find ac comp. that I've been looking for for two years, brackets and all. So I went to dissmantling. Got all of it for $58.00. I asked if he could sale me the whole truck but he said no. Its even got a four core radiator. I think I'm going back monday to get it.. It also still has the dash with wood grain and the glove box door. I dont know what rear end was in it because the sticker was faided real bad. anybody have any Idea how to tell what gears are in it?

There's a code on the right side of the rear axle. You will probably have to clean it off with a wire brush to read it.If the wheels are off the ground you can also rotate and get close enough to tell.3 3/4 turns +3:73 4.+=4.11
etc.

Re: 700r4 installed!!! woohooo!!

Thanks for the info. I have a cousin looking for a 3.73 posi, I already have one in mine so i'm just trying to look out for him.

I wish cmc would sale me the whole truck. It wasnt in that great of shape but it still had some good parts on it.

Re: 700r4 installed!!! woohooo!!

Sounds like you had a lucky day. Did it have a tach or tilt???

If the truck was an auto, it was most likely a 3.07. Manual would probably be a 3.73.
