Priceless

1969 GMC, running, but barely on the road $1800
Wheels and tires $1000
Parts used from two parts trucks in yard, well mainly just trying on my wife
Steering column, mirrors from Scott's $225
Misc parts from Flaps $300

Knowledge gained here PRICELESS!

It's on the road and booked for an inspection on Wednesday for the insurance company.

Many thanks for all the answers and if you haven't read the FAQ section READ IT.

Before and after. The body doesn't look different, but the lights work, it has a horn, brakes no longer pull left, battery isn't held down with a bungy strap, windshield doesn't have a 12 inch fist mark, it has mirrors (3), the 3 speed column will shift, heater works, installed a factory AM radio, replaced steady bearing in driveshaft, gas guage works, speedometer works and I trust it to drive around.

Looking good! I think my favorite part is the front; I just love me some GMC front ends.

Re: Priceless

It is surprising the difference a new set of wheels/tires can make. Truck looks pretty good!

Re: Priceless

Very nice job on the truck , sure looks alot different with a set a wheels. I have always said that you can change the look of a truck with a set of wheels and just alittle TLC every now and then.... Keep up the work and good luck with the inspection.

Yes so far my time has been spent on mechancal and safety. I wanted to get it on the road!

It needs a little adjustment on the quadrajet yet, but I am working on that as well.

Re: Priceless

I did a few last checks last night, made a choke adjustment and dropped it off this morning for the inspection.

I will know at 5:00..............

Re: Priceless

Well, over night a headlight stopped working, and my intermediate parking brake cable snapped! Both I can fix.

They also noted that my washer fluid container was missing and the right front upper shock bolt is loose.
