F150 mirrors--what about the old holes?

I’m thinking about going with the F150 mirrors as I can’t see much out of the factory sport mirrors. My problem is that the F150 ones need to mount higher than the sport ones. My body and paint work is already done, any suggestions on what to do with the holes from the sport mirrors? I was thinking of using small plugs and maybe them painting them the body color to hide them.

i'd say deal w/ the small mirrors, putting plugs in the holes is only gonna make it look hokey, especially if the truck is done. jmo

Best would be to weld them up but that isnt always an option. You could tap the holes in lightly and put screws back in them. Then grind the heads where they are just below the surface and then putty over them. I have worked on some doors that had the old holes filled that way. Not the best solution but should work.

I looked at the sport mirrors and realized they have 3 mounting screws--I was thinking only 2. So now my other thought is to mount the F150 mirrors to the same area that the sport mirrors mount to, covering the old holes. I think this would require something between the body and mirror to change the angle and make the mirror sit straight. Maybe some type of wedge-shaped steel plate. Any thoughts?
