68 Stepside For sale (not mine)
I have drove past this truck for about 4 years now. I kept telling my wife he needs to sell it if he aint going to do anything with it. This thing is in great shape for the rust belt. None of the metal was rusted through, even the rocker panels looked good. The only bad thing I saw was it has been setting under the trees for a while and there is a lot of surface rust on the under parts. Will probably need all new brake cyls and seals. Well heres the pics. It is in central WV near Craigsville. He is askin 3000 but Im sure he is flexable. (If you dont live in the rust belt this is going to seem real high so you can save your time)
The black stuff on the paint is mildew, not rust.

That's still one more option than I have. Nice looking truck.
I'd probably give $3K for it, and I'm not in the rust belt. We just don't find many nice short steps around here.

That's a nice looking truck!! Shouldn't have too many problems parting with it.

dang, that thing looks nice, is it really low mileage or what's the deal?, not that I'm gonna buy it because I'm broke, but I noticed the box and tailgate aren't all scratched up from the tailgate chains.

That's a sweet little 68 stepside.
That little 250 still has the smog pump and factory markings are still on the firewall. Note the white grill/chrome trim on a basic step side and no Custom/CST or other trim options present. We had a discussion about that a few weeks ago. Loose the S-10 hubs caps and the rear view mirrors you'd have it in nearly the factory configuration.

Damn. No offense but $3000 doesn't get you much out east. I'd expect to pay half that for something similar in these parts. Got to love salt on the roads.

I thought those mirrors were factory. The arms are the same as the what round mirrors use, just with a rectangular head attached. All the vendors sell those rect. heads alongside the round ones, so I just figured they were factory. I'd like to know since those are the ones I plan to use on the '67.

but see, the heads are chromed and the arms are painted, that signifies soemthing wrong right there
68 mirror options: mirror. rearview: RH and LH 17 1/4" swinging arm ............ D325 west coast jr type 6x11" RH and LH....... D29 west coast sr type, 7x16" RH and LH........ D302 options data makes no mention of any optional fixed arm like comes standard, and the drawings in 67 and 68 show only round head mirror, 69 is different story though the SPID label of this truck says nothing about optionla mirrors either. looks like someone simply swapped on later style heads off soemthing else onto the original arms good luck Last edited by Fast68Chevy; 09-18-2002 at 12:15 PM. |
