Re: New Contest

I guess you can call Patina a truck that is completely restored but the body is left undone.
I am doing the same because I canīt affoard a paint job.
Here are some examples that I found on the net.

Re: New Contest

I don't mind a truck with the original body/paint/rust. It's when you spend hours and dollars making a perfectly good truck look like that, it's .
It would be like sending a young lady to a plastic surgeon to have wrinkles and sags applied, it just don't make sense.

Thumbs down Re: New Contest

One of our trucks with real patina and an old timer with fake patina. It used to be primer black .... slapped some green paint on and took a scotch bright pad to it. You be the judge, personaly older trucks look kool with this look if it's real! IMHO.

Hot Rod black (primer) saves a guy lot's of money and I would take this over no paint.

esll.

Re: New Contest

I'd like to change the classification for my truck from "rat rod truck" to "Roach rod truck"

Stock ride height -- obviously needs rockers and floor pans--- ubiquitous for a rat , Clay Smith and Moon decals

Gas tank/ tool box - bed mounted -- original finish. as gauge is a long wooden stick

4 speed granny tranny and a 250 I6-- later model seats to keep it comfy for driving, but those will get tossed soon for the original seat

Truck is fun, but i dont know if i want to committ to it or not -- plans were to replace floorpans and cab mounts - bag it and call it good
Too many other projects to deal with this one other than occasionally driving it, but i had to respond when i saw a "patina contest"

Re: New Contest

I think there is difference between a patina paint job and just plain needs paint. Patina is really a description of oxidation on non ferrous surfaces. On steel its just plain RUST
Just like the fine line between a rat rod look and unrestored pile of junk.
