Flip installed but now I have a problem
Ok so I installed my flip kit today and got about 6" of drop with the flip and the 2" lift shackles sport truck direct told me I would need. The rear is now on the frame so I am assuming the PO maybe removed some of the leaf springs? Any ideas how to get the back end up a couple inches? I know the front sits higher than back the springs were hacked pretty short when I got this blazer and havent ordered any parts for the front quite yet. Here's some pics
EDIT: The leaf pack has 5 leafs in it, is that what I should have? and the new shackles are about one inch shorter than the stock shackles.

There looks to be room above the axle, if you remove that bumpstop. I lowered my 84 with a flip kit before the airride and had about the same room as you do. I'm not sure on the shackles, I got 5" of drop just from flipping the axle. Five leafs sounds about right for your spring pack.

5 leafs are stock. If you do a flip kit, you have to notch the frame, especially if you add shackles to it. Just take the shackle off to get it up some. Generally I have found the Blazers and Burbs have closer tolerences to the frame when flipped and require C-notches where you can possible get away without it on a pickup due to pickups sitting up higher in the rear.

If the new shackle is shorter, it will lift it back up. Longer means lower for shackles.

C-Notch it. Flip kits require that, I think anyway...Leave it low and notch it.. Removing the bump stop gives you another couple inches too.

Remove the bumpstop.
Thats what i did and i got about 3-4" of clearence. I havnt bottomed out yet and ive hauled and engine Heres a pic

thanks for the info everyone. I've used flip kits before and never had to notch but this is my first flip on a Blazer. I was planning on notching but not til down the road when I bagged it. I'll probably notch it this coming weekend, I do like how low it sits in back now though.

If you remove the bumpstop you won't be riding on the frame anymore. Just do that first and see where you stand.

I agree, for right now buy the short button style stops and replace the stockers. That way if it does hit the frame you won't chip a tooth...

I did not use a c-notch on my truck and only hit the frame once....pulling a car trailer to fast down a bad road. I'm not sure on the Blazers but unless you haul something heavy or pull a trailer you wont hit the frame.
This my truck now with AirRide Tech's 4 bar. No notch because I like the back to sit a little higher.

I changed the picture of the bumpstop, the original picture wasnt too clear. I'm just not sure if the axle will have enough travel with a notch and no bumpstop. It looks like it might want to go even lower right now.

When I did the flip kit on my '77 Suburban, I anticipated this type of problem after I took all the measurements I could. I ended up using a combination of a BellTech flip kit, BellTech 1/2" lift shackles, and a Superlift 2.5" add-a-leaf (effectively dropping the rear about 4").
This combo put my tire (275/60-15) tucked about an inch under the rear fender lip. The Burb is pretty heavy, but I trimmed the bumpstop down, and the added stiffness of the add-a-leaf made it ride like a dream. It only bottomed on really harsh bumps, but it wasn't bad (My sub has an 8-leaf pack). As far as I was concerned, it was perfect.

you are already sitting pretty low in the back if you cut the bumpstop off I don't think you'll drop much more if any at all.
You can see with it removed you'll gain about 2 inches or clearance. I'd cut it off and see where you are, if you like it that low then why waste time and money raising it back up? I mean that's the point of a drop to lower it, not raise. if you only wanted a 4 inch drop, should have put on shackles and hangers and not a flip kit. You are gonna have to cut the bumpstop off to notch it anyways so I'd go on and do it.

Just pulled the bump stops, if I would have known they were that easy to pull out I would have done it this weekend ha ha. Looks like there is about 3/4" to 1" of clearance. Looks like I wont even have to notch if I can remove the bump stop mounts, is there a certain type of drill bit or tool that removes rivots?

drilled mine off , starting with a smaller bit & working up to a larger one. tried grinder 1st but drilling worked best . rivets will pop out after you drill with bit a little smaller than head of rivet

I used an electric grinder on hanger rivets, that worked well and fast. I then took a long punch and drove them out the back once the head was gone.
Most everyone chisels them off, be it an air chisel, or by hand, which would take longer. sawzall, cut off wheel on a grinder or cut off tool, or grind the heads off, or the old drill em out way.
