Spiffied-up my`72 Sierra

I`ve had this new bumper for my`67 shortbed project in mothballs.Since I made it home on the e-brake only to run into a post parking it at my house when I lost all my pedal,I figured it should get this bumper.I slapped it on the other evening after work:

No more gnarly bumper on a straight truck.I`m glad I did it.I have plenty of time to get another for my shorty. That thing may get a rollpan to go with the louvered hood.No sense in deciding yet.Maybe I should get around to putting bezels back in it.I took them out when it sat needing a motor, which was put in 3 years ago.I didn`t want them to start pitting just sitting there.I have some extras and I want to get a pair powdercoated matte black like the accent paint in the grille and see how that looks.I can always switch them around.

Joe,that bumper is nice and "waxy",since I had my dirty paws all over it getting it on.
Carpenters are so danged expensive in my area, mostly on my road, especially at my house.
I hear ya Randy, sorry.I swear that happened backing it in.Musta rubbed the bank.Hella way to treat a 4wd,huh?

The only one I know hung his belt up for a few years and doesn't know if that's what he wants to do when he gets back to the states.

I love that truck! Not too plain, not too fancy

I think us "no shop" folks should push for a new club: the open air shop club!

Re: Spiffied-up my`72 Sierra

Jim,I have those thoughts often.
I`ve done more work outside than in on my trucks over the years.Even the shop I`m moving out of is 20 miles away and I only left select tools up there.I had a couple generators for power and rigged up a gutter-fed water system using a farm tank on top of the scale house next to the barn and piping it into the barn using all gravity. It gets warm in the summer.I even had a shower set up around the side, not in site of anyone unless they were out in the field.Gonna miss that place.I could sit outside and have a view of Sugarloaf Mt,a monolith off in the distance.Very peaceful, but it`s peaceful at home now.
I appreciate the thumbs-ups.

Re: Spiffied-up my`72 Sierra

I`m thinking to raise the truck a bit.It is definately lower than stock right now.I measured against my stock K/10 and it`s not as high.I think it will give it more appeal. If I could keep it I`d do 4".But,I think I`ll go to my spring shop and get them re-arched.I`ve had people that have seen it a bit say,"Oh,I didn`t know that was 4wd."I want to leave the stock nature to it,but get a healtier look.I actually have 6" Tuff Countrys and 35" MTRs off my Suburban on black wheels I could slap on.But,I want to leave it an emty canvas for the next guy.I would have had this as my "Tough`n`Pretty" rig and the Highlander as "Pretty`n`Tough",if you get my drift. But,I wasn`t even sure if I`d want it to go the modified route.I always saw this as the one I`d rig up with a 4 Wheel Camper pop-up hauler to replace my old camper truck. That was part of my decision to part that one out.
