Wierd Dating ?
I just got my 71 Blazer and noticed the blue door date sticker was painted over. I wanted to see if was the oricinal door so I scraped the paint off. Sure as crap, same vin as the title and glove box. But, the date in the upper right corner says 8/70. I feel pretty sure the original engine is still in it. I ran the numbers on the right side of the block just in front of the valve cover and looks like the block date (V0729TBG) is July,29 1971 and for a k10 - 2500. Anyone have a clue?
Thanks, Scott Last edited by 72 Cheyenne K20; 07-04-2007 at 09:41 PM. Reason: speelimg |

Re: Wierd Dating ?
August of 70 is most likely a 71 Model year truck, remember the 08' are
starting to show up now (July) so that has always been farely common.

Re: Wierd Dating ?
Those date codes (V0729) only tell the month and day, not the year.
TBG probably does indicate a 1971 model year engine, but that does not indicate anything about the manufacturing date. You have an early build 1971 truck that was built in August, 1970 and the engine was assembled just prior on July 29, 1970. It all makes perfect sense.

Re: Wierd Dating ?
That's what I like about FoMoCo production dates on door tags....you can tell which month and what day it (the door tag, that is) was stamped. If the VIN matches the stamping under the hood, you got a set.
Without the build sheet, I am guessing we have no real way to learn the day of production.
