Re: My battery exploded!

Glad you weren't hurt man. Time to get an Optima Gel or Exide Orbital maybe ? Make sure you wash up your engine compartment real good as everything probably got an acid bath.

If you do go the gel battery route, they DO NOT like to be jumped off with a high amp charger or to be charged quickly. You gotta charge them slow on low amperage. I found this out the hard way one morning in a desperate rush. Killed the battery.

Re: My battery exploded!

That happened to me when my wife and I first got married. She had a Dodge Stratus. Battery went dead so I left it on the charger overnight. Plan was to get it started so that I could take it to O'Reilly and trade in the old battery for a new one the next morning.

When I took the charger off the next morning and turned the key it was just like you said BOOM! Sounded like a small bomb went off. My wife came running out of the house to see what was going on. I wasn't really sure myself until I noticed all of the battery acid running out onto my driveway. Since then, I have become a lot more careful around batteries! ...Joe
