disc brakes and torsion bars

So I want to do the disc brake spindel swap. My question is : Is there any thing special on replacing the spindels on a torrsion barr set up ? I mean with coil springs you remove them prior to taking the spindels off, what needs to be done with thr torsion bar? Thanks.

I wish I could Slepysal, but we performed a complete front crossmember swap spindle to spindle (86') to acquire the end result. Sorry!

I am sure some one will provide the information.

Re: disc brakes and torsion bars

I just looked at the LMC truck catalog, and it looks like you might be in a pinch. They have drop spindles for your truck, but it might be a good time to swap the front end to a later coil spring front. Easier to get parts, components are much cheaper, and you could put airbags in later if you want to.

Re: disc brakes and torsion bars

My '62 has the front suspension for a '73. Parts are a dime a dozen.

Re: disc brakes and torsion bars

Hi Sleepysal, I done a disc and drop spindle kit on my 60 panel and it was easy providing you use a BIG hammer to split the joints! I also put a small bottle jack under the bottom arm before i split the joint and it was useful to lift the arm up and into the new drop spindle afterwards. Hope this helps, Steve.
