Re: porterville truck
I've heard people say the Fresno area is like Arkansas, the swb's grow on trees out there.

Re: porterville truck
Those mythical Arkansas SWB trucks are a little harder to find than you think.
I looked for well over a year, and finally found a good project truck that came from Mississippi. Dreams are where you find them. |

Re: porterville truck
I am also confused about the easy to find swb...at least that the owners want to sell! There is an absolutely flawless '71 Chevy with a inline 6/turbo 350 that is 100% original that the owner will not sell...but of course he leaves it out in the weather and never touches it. This truck is about a 1/2 mile from me...
Now, longbeds are a different story. Everywhere, and usually in good shape! |

Re: porterville truck
There are still quite a few shorts here in Ark that the crusher hasn't gotten to. As said many not for sale though. They are gold you know....
I am proud to have bought our unmolested 69 short step running for 1500 ten years ago in southern Ark.

Re: porterville truck
Ah, the land of the shortbed... where cheap, clean short fleets or stepsides (your choice, of course) abound... I wish there was such a place. You would think in California there would be plenty, but there really isn't. I guess that's why the guys that have them want an arm and a leg for 'em.

I see A LOT of swb's here in the carolina's, but most are stepsides and the other's "aren't for sale." There are quite a few lwb trucks too, most are still used for work What I CAN'T find in the carolina's is a 4wd, long or short, where the hell are they all

Re: porterville truck
I agree I dont see many 4wd either and the ones I do are hammered. If I was to build a 4wd I would probably want to start with a 2wd anyway, Good excuss to 4 link the back with coils. Use the mounting points from the trailing arms for lower bars add a crossmember for uppers and wahlah reverse triangulated 4 link with coils and the front leafs are easy to fab up but id probably do coil there too, it would ride nice and flex like no other c10, but if your looking for original then a 4wd truck is the only way to go.
