Power Steering Box Leak Question
The power steering gear box in my 72 4x4 leaks bad. It seems to be leaking right where the steering column goes into the box. Does anyone know what I might need or if there is a seal kit available? Thanks. (I posted a WTB for a power steering box in the classified section and " hgs_notes" replied that I can get a rebuild seal kit.) I am not sure what I need though.

I would leave this project up to the pros. If a gear box is set up with the wrong amount of backlash it could lock up in the middle of a corner.
Look around for a company that can rebuild your unit. We have a place called steer & gear in Columbus that can do it.

I agree. I tried to replace the seal on one of mine and it was not the easiest thing to do if you've never done it. It would lock up on me when turning the steering wheel. Wound up having a mechanic friend that worked on them all the time fix it for me. In retrospect, I should have gone to him first....
