Re: What did you get done? 07/22
I got alot done on my project. I took the front clip completly off and started cleaning up the fire wall. I also started cleaning up a straight K member to put under a straight frame when I find one.
Also I thought I would share this picture of a 1 ton I saw at a car show a few weeks ago. All in all it was a great week end. I cant wait till the next one !!!

Went to the Texas Heatwave. Quite of few really nice 73-87s. No camera though. Have to wait for event coverage somewhere.

pulled the last remaining fuel/brake line clamp off that was under the engine stand, removed the fuel pump and started laying out the EFI lines for the Jimmy.

Re: What did you get done? 07/22
nothing!
i was supposed to remove my front clip and swap out some fenders i picked up, but my mechanic neighbor was MIA. mebby next weekend ill get it done *edit* haha, right as i clicked submit, my buddy called me. he took his wife to san antonio for the weekend, so ill let him off the hook *wink*. when i told him what he (quote unquote) missed out on, he said "hell lets do it tomorrow afternoon!" hehe, i love gear heads! hes actually working on an 82 el camino. his engine is really nice looking, and makes the power to match. after 5 years of working on it little by little its finaly at hte bodyshop to get the body work done. hes excited as a little kid over it Last edited by RedZ71; 07-23-2007 at 09:33 PM. |

Re: What did you get done? 07/22
Ruined a new pair of front coil springs . They have been in for several months now and have settled but not enough . The front was still higher than the rear . I removed them and cut a coil off . Sits way too low now . Dropped a little over 2 inches . Ordered a set of Bell Tech 1 inch coils last night . Hope I like them . Also ordered new tires again . The 255/70/15's I just bought are coming off and 275/60 rear and 255/60 fronts are going on . Frank

Re: What did you get done? 07/22
Got a little over zealous huh. 1 coil generally is about 1.5-2" on a new spring.

Re: What did you get done? 07/22
i bought a new holly chrome air cleaner, tried to put it on, it was hitting a little metal tube on the back of the manifold that goes to the transmission, couldnt find my vice grips to bend it out of the way, so i hit it with a wrench a few times and then it broke so now i gotta somehow take off the tube, and find someone to bend me up a new one. also found out that there is even LESS floor to the bed of my truck, because i can lift up my bed about 4 inches off the frame because the bolt heads pulled through the floor and are only being held on by the BOTTOM of the cross members...and only a few of them are actually still on there. i have a new rust free bed at home in CT but have no idea how im gonna get it down here to WV.

Re: What did you get done? 07/22
do they make a grill like this for a 76 dually..man i love that grill...the one on the dually in the picture...
lets see what i did this weekend, towed my truck home with my motor home,,so i would have brakes to stop the motor home,,since it had a lack of brakes...cleaned it out, bled out the brakes on monday,,now it will stop..havent taken it out on the road yet, i want a whole lot of insurance on it before it hits the road, and triple AAA to change any flats...lol was gonna start stripping my 3/4 gmc down to put the motor in my dually, but i got one more camper given to me that may have a working refrdgarator in it..so i had to post pone stripping the 84 for a few more days... then just sat in my motor home to get away from the ol lady and kids,i even locked the door so they couldnt get in it..lol billy Quote:

Re: What did you get done? 07/22
Friday afternoon, I replaced the coil, cap, rotor, button, and ECM on my HEI because it left me stranded at home Friday morning (oh, the humanity!). Got it all done and running great in about an hour.
Saturday, mowed grass and managed to foul a plug in my weedeater Sunday, read the new Harry Potter. Yes, I am a dork.

Re: What did you get done? 07/22
Nothing really... went on a cruise last weekend, posted the pictures but they were towed to some buried subforum
Did a lot of work during the week... it's been raining every day again. I wish I was still in GA (never thought I would be saying that since I'm a New Englander, but things are getting rather extreme down here in Texas). I would have gone to that "Texas Heat Wave" thing if I knew about it and it wasn't raining (yeah I've wimped out and my truck no longer sees the rain). Met some ladies but they were both single parents, which seems to be the trend here in central Texas, so that didn't work out. And more work for next week...
