window trim

just got my new window trim from lmc. is there any tips or tools that will help with this. It looks like they just pop out in pop in with metal tabs. I just dont want to mess up anything putting my ride in a show tomorrow and this little thong will help set it off. Thanks for any help. It is the trim with the felt.

That is what they call a "Freudian slip" but no less true. Glad you caught that before anyone else responded.

I saw another post that someone recommended gripping with pliers and pulling real hard on the old ones. New ones should securely clip in. I will be doing this in a couple of weeks. Maybe.

I assume your talking about the front and rear window s/s trim. You will have to remove the glass first, I would recommend a glass shop.

Re: window trim

I think ESLL is right. I was thinking window meant side window. I took the front trim out by cutting the windshield gasket. Someone else got half the back trim and I just peeled the whole glass, gasket and bottom trim out of the opening. It was still a little tough getting the last piece of trim out of the gasket without bending it to pieces. Unless your gaskets are fairly new, It will be pretty difficult getting new trim in there. You should spend about $70 and get new ones for the trim install. You didn't say, but if you didn't have trim before, you will need them anyway.

Re: window trim

If you are putting in the trim around the front or rear windshield, the rubber goes onthe glass first, then the trim goes in the rubber, then you putthe whloe ting in the truck. Also be aware that the rubber gasket must match the year of the trim, 67-70 is different than 71-72, has to do with the depth of the groove.

Re: window trim

Put my truck in its first show on Saturday, It got second out of 15 trucks that were in it. A 1942 ford that was custumized got first, I might have gotten first if i had the bed wood redone, but happy for second.
