Talking Lowered Pictures - Inspiration Needed!

Hey, I just finished lowering the front end of my 81 C10 short box truck 3" with belltech lowering spindles. Im not sure where to go from here. Can anyone post pictures of their trucks with a short discription of suspension mods and also rim and tire sizes?

Re: Lowered Pictures - Inspiration Needed!

Mine has 3 " drop springs in front and 2 " lowering shackles in the rear with only 3 leafs left in the rear. It rides nice. 295/50/15 on 15 X 10's all around. I had 2 1/2 " drop spindles in the front before but they would not work with my wheels

Hey welcome to the board! I request that you post some more pics of your ride- you may want to start a new thread.
Looks great from the rear!

Re: Lowered Pictures - Inspiration Needed!

Not sure the exact drop. About a 3/4 I think. 2" drop shackles and only three leafs on the rear. The front is soon to be redone with 2" drop spindles and 3" drop springs. Eventually will do a flip and c-notch on the rear.

Good Lord that looks good in satin!! You've just given me the confidence to do that to mine when I finish the bodywork.

Re: Lowered Pictures - Inspiration Needed!

Thanks guys for all your help. I noticed alot of you are running less leafs. How does the ride compare to stock? How do you go about removing them? As in which ones do you remove? Doesn't it require different shocks?
P.S. working on pictures of my extreme "rake"!

I removed a leaf in the rear as well. I removed the second from the top, or the second longest one. Your best bet to do this is to remove the whole leaf spring assembly from the truck, then you'll have a bolt through the middle with a nut on it. Take this nut off, then take off the clamp holding it on the end of the leaf, then just pull them apart. Put it back together the same way. Gave me probably a 2-2.5 inch drop and I couldn't be happier.

It still rides really nice too. it changed a little, and it is a little softer, but you get used to it quick.

Cool thanks. Can you take out more leafs then that for more drop? How do you know which shock to use?

Re: Lowered Pictures - Inspiration Needed!

I'm having a hard time downloading pics. I'm working on trying to resize them. I'll post some others when I learn how. I tried removing more leafs but I think you want to have at least 3 in there. You'll be hitting the stops on the frame on not much of a bump. Also it looked like there was very little wiggle room where the drive shaft goes up to the tranny. You can't see any splines and it looks pretty tight.

I used to have a 77 with the same wheel and tire combo but never got around to lowering it before I sold it. Welcome to the board and, btw, sweet truck.
