Just curious about the oil filler tube.....should my '72 350 have one? It just has a fill cap on each valve cover.

They came on the a/c trucks. So if yours was a stock a/c truck then yes. If you have heat only then no.

Thanks Aaron! Yes I do have factory a/c. Would it matter if it has a power brake booster or not? My truck has manual brakes.

It shouldnt matter. The reason you should have the tube is that the oil fill plug is towards the front on the passenger cover and towards the back on the driver side. With the compressor mounted, it covers the front oil fill plug on the passenger side. So you have to use the driver fill plug. So they put the tube in the rear filler on the driver side to make it easier to fill. If you can fill it as is with no problem dont wory about it. But if you would like it check the parts board they pop up every so often. Good luck.

Interesting thread. I have never ever seen a filler tube on a 72. I have seen plenty on 69 and earlier but not any 72's. I would like to know for sure myself.

fwiw - my 72 has heat only and no fill tube

Most of them end up disappearing during an engine overhaul or when the a/c is disconnected. Which is why alot go missing. I know cause when I bought the green and white the kid lost it along with the a/c brackets.

And here is how it works out:
with a/c= oil filler tube
heat only= no filler tube.

Well, thanks to this great site full of knowledgeable folks and another fellow board member with parts for sale, I have an original filler tube on the way. There's no doubt that I'll be spending lots of time here, asking more questions and learning more about these great trucks!
