ac compressor and tall valve covers
will the stock compressor clear a set of tall valve covers like the ones pictured below?
and can someone post a pic of how the bracket actually mounts? |

Re: ac compressor and tall valve covers
I started a similar thread inquiring the same thing about Big block brackets. A few board members directed me to Alan Grove components -- he has brackets for small and big blocks (and a bunch of other crap) that works good at very reasonable prices. Sanden makes small AC compressors too, that blend in a little better under a nice truck's hood
But as far as using the stockers- i have no idea -- remove and replace is the only way i know how to wrench (unfortunately) |

Re: ac compressor and tall valve covers
I guess I'll round up a compressor and see if it'll fit.

Re: ac compressor and tall valve covers
If it's the huge Harrisson log compressor, it won't work. Not sure about the short/fat compressor in a V-Belt setup though.

Re: ac compressor and tall valve covers
I tried to use some not quite so tall covers (but taller than stock) and it wouldn't work.
Maybe with a little more effort than I was willing to give but not just a bolt on deal. I had the "radial" compressor.

Re: ac compressor and tall valve covers
The stock r4 compressor won't work with those valve covers, the lines on the back of the compressor will hit. I've got "tall" (1/2" taller than stock) vortec valve covers and mine barely fits. Your covers look way taller than mine.

Re: ac compressor and tall valve covers
I have the short Harrison compressor on my 84 with all valve covers from Street and Performance. The clearance is no problem on most tall covers, because before the S&P covers, I had aluminum covers from the Chevrolet Performance product line, which are now on my son's truck and he has a short style A/C.
