shaved handles, where did you mount your solenoid?
When I shaved the handles in my 85 I used a regular door lock actuator and mounted it under the latch and it worked great. I cant seem to get it to work the same on my 77 but I found a shaved handle kit with a couple of "pull" solenoind but cant figure out where to mount the solenoind and pulley/wheel. Anybody have pics of where and how they mounted theirs? thanks
Adam

Re: shaved handles, where did you mount your solenoid?
I have a 40lb kit that Im waiting to install. Ive found some internet "how to" by searching google. I have a 79 I think your doors are the same. I just have no clue on where to install the door popper.

Re: shaved handles, where did you mount your solenoid?
I usually mount the solenoid on a bracket in the opening just above where the arm rest mounts. run a cable back to the latch and attach it where the rod for the inner handle mounts. remove the rod and replace it with another cable and attach to the inner handle.. ( so that the solenoid does not have to pull against the handle) use high quality cable and clamps to prevent failure.
I have found this to be the most reliable setup for me. Sorry I dont have pics. |

Re: shaved handles, where did you mount your solenoid?
Got them and the alarm installed and working great. I've always just used a brake spring to help push the door open but they dont really work too well. In my last truck I bought an expensive spring but it kept the door from lining up right, what have you guys used to help push the door open and where did you put it? Thanks again

Thats exactly what I was talking about. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
works best if you replace the rod with a cable too! |

Re: shaved handles, where did you mount your solenoid?
I dont have any pics of my poppers...cuz honestly, Im playing grabass with the rollpan atm should have that on tommorrow then back to shaved doors.
you can thank a buddy of mine from detouring me tho, lil buttsniffer yellin how ugly my bumper was lol. anyway...for the poppers, its prolly best if you mount them where the door hang is, cuz they are only going to pop about 2 inches, so if at the back, will give you guesstimately 5 inches to play door grabber with. Im keeping my pull cable in there until I can take and wire everything up, gotta love distractions! oh yea, Im doing all of mine in a dorm parking lot here on base LOL.
