Arrow Roll Pan And Wood Floor Question???

Has anyone ever installed a wood floor in a truck that had a roll pan previously installed? The reason for this question is the 5 bolts at the very back centre between the frame rails just a head of the tail gate are impossible to get a nut on as the roll pan wraps around the under side of the cross bar that is welded in.

Any tips on this will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Roll Pan And Wood Floor Question???

Here is an idea that I have come up with. I was thinking of using a piece of 16g 3.5 x 34' sheet metal, 1/4 carridge bolts but 6' long instead of the 1.5' length Carridge bolts that are supplied. Drill holes and slide in the sheet metal between the frame and the under side of the cross bar so the cross bar takes on a boxed effect. Place bolts through the bed and apply nuts and washers on the under side of the sheet metal. it will be tight as there is not much room but I think it can be done.

What do you guy's think ....

Re: Roll Pan And Wood Floor Question???

Wow, 85 views and not one response. I find this hard to believe. Someone here has to have put in a wood floor who had a roll pan in place! As usual .... fix your own and post the results to make life easier for someone else.

Thanks guy's,

esll.

Re: Roll Pan And Wood Floor Question???

Uh... I have neither but......

Can you fab up a piece of sheet metal with holes drilled through and nuts welded to the backside? You could slip that in place and tighten it from the top. You would have to use bolts that you can turn from the top side instead of carraige bolts but they could still be attractive if you used ones tht are turned with a hex key.

Just a random thought.. if you can reach the nuts your idea is probably best.. but this might be a fall back.

Re: Roll Pan And Wood Floor Question???

If you own a truck that has a roll pan installed and want to install a wood bed floor a very good solution for the above problem can be found in my post "Bed Time Story."
