Re: Changing out my 3/4 ton, 1972 rear
You might do best to consider a later rear. The 14-bolts came with 3.73 in alot of trucks and you would only need to move one shock mount and the spring pads. That would keep you from setting up a new ring & pinion and the parts purchase.

need to start with knowing what's under there now.
Is it a dana? Is it an Eaton/cororate? What gear ratio is it? |

Re: Changing out my 3/4 ton, 1972 rear
That`s true.I figured it was a Dana60.There weren`t 3.73s for either,right?

Re: Changing out my 3/4 ton, 1972 rear
Yeah,that`s what you`d want.But,finding one?Never tryed replacement parts,but I never see them in Danas,personally.
The Eatons never went as low.Very few 3.90s out there,it seems.I think my to truck has 5.13s or whatever the increment was.I can want as fast as the speed it can be shifted to 4th.Well,power-walk.Now stop visualizing that!
