I've never used them, but with a perfect 100% feedback rating, someone must like what they are doing! They list their phone number, might be worth giving them a call and perform some first hand due diligence.

Re: any use this crate engine supplier?
Something to remember with E-bay feedback... it's normally given upon the receipt of an item, not after it's used or installed. Not many people wait until they install something to leave feedback.

Re: any use this crate engine supplier?
I guess I'm the exception It takes me a couple months sometimes to leave feedback, to which I usually get an email reminding me to please leave it. I politely reply that I will, once I find out if the item is worth two poops or not.

Re: any use this crate engine supplier?
We prefer using the GM crate motors. They have held up very well in the 2 dozen or so cars that we've installed them in and their warranty is unbeatable. We had one motor break a rod bolt on us and gm paid the labor to r&r the motor. Definatly beats us having to do it for free or a customer having to pay for somthing that is neither of our faults. Just somthing to consider. Here is a great source for GM crate motors. We can't beat em.

Re: any use this crate engine supplier?
I have not used them before, I would go back in the feedback and contact some of the users to see what they say after the fact now. Good luck
I have a newly rebuilt 396 in the classifieds if you want it. |

I can't say yeah or nay about Tuff Dawg's products. Never used them. I can say that for that price range many vendors provide comparable deals. With a suitable donor engine you could build it yourself for roughly the same price or less. (e.g. My buddy just picked up a cleaned up/ready to be machined BBC 454 with 781 heads for $750. Add a couple of grand in machinework and a cam and you're all set.) IMO the intake valves are a little small for a 450HP engine and they don't mention which head casting. If not 049s or 781's I'd pass. Other than these two castings, I don't care for cast iron heads on a BBC (personal opinion, no flames required). In order to get that much HP out of a smaller intake valve the cam duration and lift have to be increased, reducing driveability. Warranty aspect is nce, but you may want to speak to a few customers first to see who if any have had to use it. Hope it helps
