V-8 in place of 6 cyl. best route?
a friend is getting ready to install a 1973 350 in a 65 truck where there used to be a 6 cyl. engine & mounts?? are long gone. what do you guys recommend for engine mounts, part numbers , resoration pieces ? any help appreciated. I have no 60-66 info or catalogs. I'm basically a 73-87 guy. thanx , DAVE

OK we got that far without anyone getting hurt :-) . now how about the actual mounts on the engine. are they still available new. thanx for the good link, DAVE

Crossy,
My search is coming up short. This is the best i can come up with; "I know that most all GM engine mounts changed over to the "clam shell" type starting in 1973. The upper and lower halves of the old mounts and the newer ones are totally incompatible. But as far as I know, the mounting points on the sides of the engine blocks didn't change. " ...You shouldn't have any trouble finding whatyou need at a auto parts store. Sorry i can't be of more help! Later. |

I have a 65 suburban and I ordered engine mounts from chevy duty........almost all restoration parts dealers carry them....HEMMIT
