Hi,

I just purchased a 1967 GMC 1500 stepside, but it is not a short box. Until I found this truck I thought all step sides were a shorter box...is this a rare truck?

PS truck has had a frame off restoration, but I need to finish assemblying it, sure is clean now!

thanks for the reply....Any suggestions how I can determine the value (after I finish asembling it)? Is there any good websites on this? I am looking forward to driving this come spring!

3827 1/2 ton's and 785 3/4 ton's were produced in 67.

Easy there, Vinnie, you're talking about other peoples' trucks.

Longsteps aren't too rare, but it would be tough to find one for sale if you went looking for a particular one. GMC longsteps are out there, too. There's several owners on the board.

And longsteps aren't ugly. Some people think they are because they're just used to looking at short steps. Good luck and keep us posted on your project. And show us pics!

I have some pics that the previous owner gavce me, need to get them scanned....(don't have a digital camera right now!)

It is a 1967 longbed stepside, the previous owner tore it down to the frame and completed about 95%+ of the "restoration"(has a 350/350 now not a 6).

I just need to install front clip, wiring harness, complete dash install, install carpet and seat, align the doors, etc.

I paidd $2,800 for it, any ideas on value? The previous owner "lost interest" in the project and just wanted it gone!

Blazerman: Um...I'll put it this way: nobody owns it now.

Makes a great bed trailer, though.

It was a learning experience of the rusty variety, and I will have another one someday and rejoin the club (or does having a longstep trailer count?). All the parts I bought for it are going to be transferred to my '67 C20.

You didn't know it at the time because I don't like to advertise that I'm cutting up these trucks.

LOL! You guys are dogs! I have a 70 GMC 3/4 ton long step. It has had the fenders removed and these cool Koenig (before the wer Rawson/Koenig) tool boxes bolted on. Makes it like a telephone company truck but lower with a bigger bed. I plan on making a work trailer out of it some day. Traded a pair of doors for the whole truck.

I think the long steps look cool raised and the shorts look good lowered. Just my opinion but take a look at the long ones that are lifted, I didnt like the looks of them until I saw a couple up close that were lifted.

My 2500 was a stepside long bed but since it was rusted out I replaced it with a flatbed/lift gate combo and absolutely love it!

Chevy production numbers. Not sure if this includes GMC.

Long steps have the lowest production numbers. Mine is a former farm truck. Stepsides are far more useful than fleetsides in those type situations. Long ones even more so because of the added bed area.
