Coil Over front spring rate?
I am working on my 57 Chevy Truck project IFS with Aldan coil over shocks. I have a set of 400 lb springs but they seem a bit weak and I don't even have the front clip on yet. Can anyone tell me from experience what pound springs worked for them? I have an old Chubby Chassis IFS and as far as I know they are no longer in business. Any help appreciated. You can see my project here it is going slow but sure. http://www.tagworld.com/azmark/

Re: Coil Over front spring rate?
My 59 had 400# blue/red. It has a small block in it with a 700 R. They have been in it for 4 years and are flat. I would try the next weight up from the 400#.
Im going to shock waves. Brian ...

Re: Coil Over front spring rate?
Entourageguy thanks mucho, Think I am going to send the 400 lb back and exchange for 500 lb or maybe the 450 lb. It looks like the 400 lb blue/red would work but needs a bit more can adjust them up but then might get coil bind under driving conditions. I also have a SB and 700R4. Anyone else thoughts?

Re: Coil Over front spring rate?
When I got my truck 2 years ago the po had the springs turned up about1.5" on the adjusting threads. I let them down this year and it lowered the truck but the springs don't do much.

Re: Coil Over front spring rate?
Hey Entourageguy, I saw your truck at the Barrie Flea Market a few weeks ago, SWEEEET! The ride height looks great, would the new springs change the height or will it stay the same?

Re: Coil Over front spring rate?
Thanks for the comment.
Ride height will probably be the same. Parked with the shockwaves in the front it will drop lower. Once I do a small tub in the rear it will drop lower as well. Brian ...
