Are you a parts whore?

I was re-arranging my parts stash today and I couldnt believe how much I have.I didnt think I had alot of parts, but I guess I do! I realize now I must of had alot to build a truck starting with just a frame! The sad thing is I cant bring myself to letting any of it go
This isnt a list of stuff to sell just a example of my parts stash. And please dont ask if anyone wants to sell stuff in this thread..Thanks.
SM465 4spd/NP205
SM465 4spd/Rockwell T221
69 and older Rockwell style front driveshafts
73 and newer NP205 style front driveshafts
NP205 Skidplate
NP205 crosssmembers
V8 4wd motor crossmembers
2wd TH350 tranny crossmember
Power brake setups
Misc. motor brackets
A few front axles (4wd)
A few 4wd rear axles
A 5 lug 12 bolt rear
5 lug front suspension
Tinted glass..several sets
Factory sliding rear windows
All colors of visors
No armrest inner door panels
Doors
Fenders
Hoods
Cabs
Tranny floor humps
Gas tanks
Radiators
Radiator supports
A 6" lift for a truck
69-70 bucket seats
69-?? Center Consoles
A few motors..V8s and inline 6's
ETC,ETC

I did have more but sold 2 2wd rolling chassis and sold a 2wd TH350.I guess after having a few of these a list of parts adds up. I wonder how many other trucks I could build up with parts I already have...
So,do we have anymore parts whores here?

Re: Are you a parts whore?

We'll let's see, I have 7 parts trucks, a shop full of engines and trannys (including several Diesels, 2 BBC's, and 351 GMC V6) plus about 15 other cars and non 67-72 trucks. I think I qualify as a bonafide PARTS SLUT!!!

Re: Are you a parts whore?

Being in town, I definitely am not in most of you folks league. I think if I find me another cab (and motor tranny), I have enough to build another 2wb SWB, and still have a few things hanging out in the shop and parts shed.

Talking Re: Are you a parts whore?

hehe, back when i had a place to part out trucks, my cousin and myself would have as many as 30 trucks at a time. now i just pick up parts as i find them--no more whole trucks, too many *****y neighbors .
i still think it's only a hobby, it's not a sickness

Thumbs up Re: Are you a parts whore?

oh, i still have more than i need even though i live in town, just nothing compared to "the old days", but thats how i ended up with so many option goodies for my own trucks. THEN, i got into N.O.S. parts for my own trucks and since i have two trucks, i had to get two of everything--no wonder i'm always broke.

NO!! The folks who retain ownership of such items are Preservationists, not parts whores. Any decent registered truck nut has to be a preservationist. Being called a parts whore may be part of the personna, but we ain't no stinkin' parts whore!! We are saving the good stuff for future generations.

Re: Are you a parts whore?

I don't believe we are parts whores we just feel the need to own a fleet of the variety of these trucks and we 'need' enough of the parts to start a new fleet if need be!

That's what my wife and mother call me.Every since I moved to Austria, I have been ordering parts for my trucks and Camaro and having them sent to my Moms house. She just threatened me yesterday about having a parts sell in her front yard.

Another part of this is how far you will drive to get a part that you really don't actually need at the time. I have driven hundreds of miles for stuff just to have it!

Re: Are you a parts whore?

Me too!I have a cab I went to SW Virginia for(remember,Big Bill?),rolling chassis from Florida,HO52No-Spin from MA,327 from NJ that I had rebuilt when I got home, and a set of rears pulled off a truck in January sittin`on a trailer at a Home Depot in Carlisle,PA(seller was from Kansas)...all layin`around waiting to be used.

Not to mention, parts we have shipped from all over the country.I bet there`s some good stories there.
