Pulley issue
I got my new balancer today. Its a 8 inch with the timing mark line up with the keyway slot. Had a issue with the other one having the timing mark 10 degrees off. Well as usual when I go to do something on the 68 I usually find something wrong or out of wack. This time was no exception. As I was getting ready to remove the crank pulleys I noticed that they were off a bit. So I got my tape out and sure enough the one thats on there now is about 1/8 -1/4 of a inch narrower and that is how much the pulleys are off by Imagine that. Heres the pics..

Re: Pulley issue
My aluminum pulleys do the same thing. I haven't driven it enough yet to know if it's a problem. I thought mine was just because of the aftermarket pulleys.

Re: Pulley issue
You just need to put 3 washers, 1 per hole onto the crank pully, you put these on the back side to sim it out, use some grease on each one to hold the washers in place.
That should fix your problem. This seems to be very common, I wonder if it is the balancer that is out of spec?
