Re: Advice On Exhaust!!!

Make sure that your primary Header pipe is at least 1 5/8inch and Long Tubes Only! After trying to save some bucks I think i went through 3 sets of headers before I could find a set that would fit.Stay Away from all stainless unless they are coated or they will burn through. I made great experience with Heddman, Great quality. You probably will be pleased with Two chamber Flowmasters. NOt quiet and not to loud. A one chamber will em bares Mustangs

Re: Advice On Exhaust!!!

My 3" pipes run over the rearend (mandrel bent) and exit straight out the back. Puts the sound out further back behind the operating cab. The tips tone the sound better than straight pipes. Stainless is the only way to go with the exhaust tips, chrome will rust through quickly. Mine are 3 years old and still look nice.

Re: Advice On Exhaust!!!

I like Thrush turbos, they're cheap, thay have some noise to them without being too loud, and they sound excellent IMO.

Everyone and there brother-in-laws uncles cousins brothers step brothers half sister (twice removed) has Flowmasters on their vehicles. I'm kinda sick of the sound honestly because I hear it so much, day in and day out. But thats just my 2 cents.

Re: Advice On Exhaust!!!

Maybe Im gettin to old, but I like em a little more mellow cruisin, whithout the cab resonance. I tryed 40's flow, but with 4.10 gears, it had a drone rollin down the hyway that gave me a headace after a few miles. Behind my 383, I run Hooker comps, 2 1/2" pipe/H pipe & a pair of 50's flows. Finished out with a pair of 2 1/2" tailpipes, straight out the back, its a lot quieter in the cab cruising.......stand on the throttle, & I think its every bit as loud as the 40's I was running(AWSOME sound)! I can still cruise by a squad car without drawing too much attention to my toy tho..... crazyL

Re: Advice On Exhaust!!!

mine isn all that loud at all in the cab. iv insulated the hellllll outa my cab though, thick carpet pad and new carpet helps keep the sound down. i hear more engine noise then exhuast when the glass is up.
