Re: My 80 Sierra Grande

Welcome to the forum man!

I'm also in Alberta, near Edmonton. I dunno where the heck you found a truck that rust free in Alberta, but hang onto it, cause you're not likely to find another in similar condition.

I would very highly suggest that you keep that truck off any winter roads until you get that surface rust taken care of on the rockers and cab corners. It only takes a year or two of salty roads to make a truck in that good of shape look like swiss cheese.

As far as the stepside to fleetside conversion goes, just list your box on buysell.com or something and offer that you want to trade for a fleetside box in the same condition. Its almost guaranteed that you'll have someone make the trade with you.

Just make totally sure that you want to trade it off first, because those stepside boxes really grow on you. I miss my 77 stepside and kinda wish I'd kept it now.

Oh, might want to consider doing a cut and buff on that paint, you could make that old girl really shine again

Keep us all posted, and if you are in my area and need a hand, feel free to give me a shout any time
