cheyenne super bedside/options

I am looking at a 72 cheyenne super in the junkyard, it is a lwb half ton. It has two small square doors in the bed. One on each side with locks on them. What were these for?

Also the truck is a real super because it has the option sticker. It says blue cloth interior, would that be the houndstooth? And the truck does not have carpet, but a rubber floor mat. The truck also does not have a chrome front bumper, it is painted blue. Could this truck been ordered like this? Or do you think it has just been changed over the years?

Re: cheyenne super bedside/options

If you are talking about the ones like on my truck, there should be gas tank filler necks behind them for the external tanks.

Re: cheyenne super bedside/options

Chrome bumbers and carpet were standard on supers, So I'd guess it was changed at some point or the glovebox door with sticker was changed.

As for the seat, it could of been all vinyl but if cloth was listed, then yes it would of been hounds tooth.

Re: cheyenne super bedside/options

The options sticker matches the serial number of the truck, so I know it has not been changed. I have already bought it, so I can do more investigating when I get it home.

Re: cheyenne super bedside/options

Does the option sticker say CheyenneSuper on it?Cloth seat would not have been listed. The houndstooth cloth is incoroprated in the CheyenneSuper package. So is the carpet and chrome bumpers.Things get changed, but I usually don`t see a rubber mat put in place of carpet.I`m thinking you have a CustomDeluxe. Is there a headliner w/chrome trim? Are the glovebox door and instument cluster covered in woodgrain? Two sets of moulding down the side?

Yes, the truck has the headliner with chrome trim. It has the woodgrain cluster, and glovebox and the cheyenne super on the outside of the box and on the fenders.

Re: cheyenne super bedside/options

I don`t think you could delete the carpet in a CheyenneSuper. If you could, the mat would be listed as an option.I guess it was changed.I think the "blue cloth" is just specifying color of interior, just like the "white/med. blue/white" designates the paint shceme.Within the CheyenneSuper package you could chose "solid" paint and had choices on interior color. That color combo sounds odd to me.The standard was white as an accent.

Re: cheyenne super bedside/options

I will try to post some pics as soon as I can. I do think the carpet was removed and replaced with the floor mat. As far as the color, it has a white roof, blue upper body, white in between the chrome strips, and blue on the bottom. I would think it is a commom color combo.

Thanks for the info, you are the experts.

Re: cheyenne super bedside/options

The "Blue Cloth" is referring to the Houndstooth seat.
