Best Edelbrock Intake...
I'll probably be going to Good Guys at Charlotte this weekend and if I see a "deal" I'd like to pick one up.
All I want is a basic intake that will be a bolt on for a Generic Gen I GMPP 250hp 350 CI crate engine. My carb is an Edelbrock 1406. Do I just need part no. 2101? http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...nresults=false

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
I hope you find a better deal than what was at our Goodguys ! Everything was full retail price plus in the vendor area. I get much better deals at dedicated swap meets !

I'm actually on the fence about going... do I really want to pay $15 to get in plus parking (another 5-10?)

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
Not to mention going on Sunday, paying full price for the group to get in only to find out all the vendors packed up and left sat. evening!.. Glad I didn't realize it was that time again because I said I wouldn't do it again..... and I'm not.

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
I narrowed those results down - you can choose your desired finish and narrow them down some more, and then RPM range too.
But the Performer EPS (#2701) is a little better than the Performer (according to Edlebrock). http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...=KeywordSearch I wanted a little more cruising RPM power, so I went with Performer RPM (didn't have the Air-Gap when I bought mine, or I would have gotten it). Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
Since you are using an Eddy carb (squarebore) I would buy their EPS. If it was a Quad I would say regular Performer.

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
Performer, or EPS for a square-bore.
The RPM typically isn't well-suited to our trucks as it gives up low/midrange torque in exchange for top-end power. Unless you have tall gears and see 5500+ on a regular basis the EPS or Performer are better choices. |

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
I'm running a 700R4 with 3.73 rear. It hardly sees over 2000 rpm on the highway. I'm pretty light on the throttle. Even under somewhat hard acceleration, the shifts don't see much over 3500 rpm.
Thanks for the link Orange and all the comments everyone. Looks like the 2701 might be the best to go with?

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
I typically go on saturdays, by 4 o'clock it seems about 1/3 of the vendors are packing up to go home

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
sorry if this is a hijack, but is the edelbrock intake better or the same in performance (non-RPM model) as weiand (or summit brand)? or maybe is there something about the edelbrock that makes it work better with edelbrock carb? thanks.

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
IMHO, nothing unique for Performer with an Edelbrock carb. The Weiland Stealth is really a great manifold that I've used quite a bit; better than average mid-range torque and very little drop at the top end for a dual-plane. I don't have any stats to back it up, just past experience.

I would go with the Performer EPS.Im partial to that one because that is what I have had on my last two 350's.

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
I have the one Slick Orange told you about and I love it. Gets you 5hp over the 2101.

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
Thanks fella's. I'll ask around for the 2701 (EPS) and if I can't find one a 2101 seems like it would be fine too.

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
I always go with 1405 and 1406 carbs. Far as intakes go...go with the performer.I seem to get better gas mileage with them with out losing power.

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
MOST aftermarket alum intakes don't do anything but cost you money. You loose low end torque and mpg. Kind of like switching to headers~~!
I tried several and reverted back to stock with 1406 and got back 2mpg and low end torque. If you actually talk to edlebrock, they will tell you that you really need to change out your cam as well to get significant results. My recommendation would be to pick up a later stock GM aluminum intake to cut weight ---best case--unless you plan to go beyond to change out the cam shaft. Goodguys is a JOKE! Around here, most of the guys I know don't go any more. Many of the vendors are also dropping out--the folks who run it act like we owe them something!!! We have plenty of choices and screw them if they think they have a monopoly~~way to pricy and way to unfriendly for me!! Huck |

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
My machinist sells Chinese knock-offs before Edelbrocks. He rarely gets an Edelbrock he doesn`t need to plane and the cheapos are usually dead-on flat. They cost alot less and "made in China" is on the bottom where you can`t see it....Say what you will. But,a name`s just a name and a manifold is just a hunk of cast that needs to fit.

Re: Best Edelbrock Intake...
I would also recommend Edelbrock Performer series. 2101 is fine, but EPS is only $10 or $20 more from Summit.
