Exhaust
Did 72 Chevrolet PU's have factory dual exhaust? If so was it 2 1/2" all the way?

Re: Exhaust
I think it was just a 2.5 single all the way to the back, maybe a 2.25 single but no dual unlesss there was some dealer installed exhaust i've never heard of.

Re: Exhaust
Judging by your username, I'm guessing you have an original big block truck. If so, then it would have had dual exhaust from the factory, with 2 1/2" pipe back to the mufflers and 2" tailpipes. At least that's the way mine was set up.

Re: Exhaust
When I got my truck back in 1978ish, it had about 80k on the odometer and it had dual exhaust. I don't think it was factory as the mufflers where different and the tailpipes where different sizes. I know the left side was factory but right side was add on. I cannot remember how it looked up where the "Y" pipe was but I think it was modified also.
The other thing that makes me think duals where not an option from GM on the P/U's is up to 74 I cannot ever remember seeing duals on the PU's...especially the Big Block trucks. Back then the first thing everybody wanted to do was hack the mufflers off and put Cherry Bombs or Thrush Mufflers...Or even straight pipes...which I can vouch that straight pipes on a Big Block might sound cool but absolutely does not help the performance under 4,000 rpm. Re: Exhaust
duals were factory on big block trucks, 2 1/2" headpipes, 2" tailpipes. smallblock trucks all had single exhaust .
