Another tailgate problem

Got my tailgate installed and can't get it to latch. I had the bed and inside of tailgate Linexed about two years ago. I had these done separate because I had the tailgate off. The gate worked fine before. Could the Linex material be the cause of it not latching? If anyone has had this problem please let me know if you solved it. Thanks,
Dave

Re: Another tailgate problem

There might be some of the Linex material getting in the way... Loosen the bolts on the tailgate catches mounted to the inside of the bed, bring them out towards the back of the truck and tighten them back up. You should be able to take care of this with an adjustment or two.

Re: Another tailgate problem

I've tried moving them every way and still can't make it work. I'll try again tomorrow.
Thanks

Re: Another tailgate problem

cover thje latch hole area in the side of the bed with masking tape then take a grease pencit to the latch prongs of the tailgate to see where the alicnment problem is//i'd bet its the linex if its anywhere near the thickness as mine and its on the mating surface of the tailgate to bed it'd be close to 1/2 build up from stock

Re: Another tailgate problem

Did you get yours to fit and work right? If so what did you have to do?

Re: Another tailgate problem

If the liner seems to be hitting the gate you're probably going to have to trim it. I had to trim mine and used a dremel with a small grinding wheel. Try sending Chevydude a PM. He installs liners for a living and might be able to help you out.
