Same reason all vehicles started doing it...theft deterent.You didn`t know that?It`s a great idea with all these stolen trucks we keep having around here.The`73-up automatic shift locking columns have no shift indicator on them.It`s in the dash.

Thanks for letting us know.We`ve all heard of Flaming River,but prolly not about their locking columns.
