I recently bought a 1972 GMC Super Custom and I want to learn everything about it, but I'm confused because I can't find any info. on it like I could a Chevy. Why is this? I know the trucks are virtually identical, but does GMC have any seperate literature such as sales brochures, etc.? I chose to buy a GMC because I liked the grille design better. I know that alot of the aftermarket parts, manuals, etc. reference both GMC and Chevy, but did GMC have seperate literature when they rolled off the floor? How can I get it. What would my truck have as far as literature, manuals, tags, etc. when it was sold? What is the story behind GMC and Chevy? Why is there so much more out there for Chevy and very little for GMC. GMC was my choice also, in our 67-72 era they were considered the WORK truck. I have tried to get the restoration package like chevy has and the only answer they can give me is to get the Chevy model version. I am still waiting on. I do have the origional sales brochure for the 71 trucks, and have been able to get many GMC items through GMC PAUL. You should ask Paul about your option list. The GMC in 72 would not have been a Super Custom but a Seirra or Seirra Grande I beleive. Many restorations have changed the badges etc to Chevy as the GMC ones are hard to find. Agian GMC Paul would be the one to contact. Have your vin # block # and all ready when you call he can set you straight on what the origional truck was, where it was born etc. Good luck~!

Do any of you guys have original literature that may have come with the truck off the lot? Did GMC have their own stuff or was it the same as Chevy? Hey Brewski, you scared me a little bit with that question on Super Customs. I have a seen a couple of those around, but I wanted to make sure. What's the equivilent Chevy model to the Super Custom? Does anyone know?

theres some things in it that wouldnt be considered politically correct. one picture it has two hunters holding rifles infront of a 3/4 ton with a camper, god forbid they put a gun in an ad these days(sarcasm

) and somewhere in it it says "we even added power brakes for the ladies"

Do you have a scanner? I really want this. Check this out. I just won a bid off Ebay for a 1972 GMC Colors and Trims book. I am so excited about this. It's one of those "off-the-wall" things that one would never expect to get. I guess it's a GM item. I didn't think I would come across something like that, so I bid on it. Check it out.

good find, id love to have something like the colors and trim book. what parts of the manual do you want? the specifications is really helpful, goes over what was standard and what was optional, has interior pics, light duty options, safety features, engines, wheelbases and some other stuff

A good place to find this stuff is eBay, try "GMC manual". I have bought some nice literature for a reasonable price.
