Fusable Links and One Wire Alt. Question

I am installing a one wire alt. and was wonder what type of protection do I need. I bought a fusable link, but it says use a fusable link 2 size smaller than the wire gauge being use. This seem like it would defeat the purpose of have the 10 gauge wire if you use a 14 gauge fusable link Also, should I put the fusable link between the alt and the battery, or the power line coming out of the battery. Any help would be great. Thanks

I admit that I am no authority on this topic, but I would put the fuseable link from the battery. Run a search of these questions, and you should find some useable info, the one-wire alt. gets covered a lot on here.
