I have never seen, or heard of the panels before. They interest me a lot, so I am hoping some other chime in on this one.

Re: 1970-71 Chevrolet/GMC ABS Plastic Door Panel

I have heard that they crack and break when putting in and are very fragile, I heard that from a vendor and he urged me not to buy.

Re: 1970-71 Chevrolet/GMC ABS Plastic Door Panel

These are plastic backed, I've had them in my truck for ~5 years now. Got them from the Truck shop and really like them NO RUST and NO Problems with warping or cracking. Very pliable and workable

I considered them for a minute, but I don't want to make my interior plastic like the rest of the cars today.

I don`t like replacement quality parts on my trucks. It`s like JC Whitney/K-mart rash,IMO.I`ve never seen a steel panel warp or crack. And,if that rusts out you`ve got some big problems.I`ve never had any rusted in even the rustiest trucks I`ve had.You can always make sure there`s a good coat of paint on the back, too.

Re: 1970-71 Chevrolet/GMC ABS Plastic Door Panel

To each his own. The back is ABS the front is original style fabric. I was talking about the Plastic warping or cracking as was suggested in the original post not the original Metal ones. Yes mine had some rust from the widow seal being bad and this thing they call rain left some rust. If I hadnt told you they were plastic you would have never known

Re: 1970-71 Chevrolet/GMC ABS Plastic Door Panel

70 CST Short Wide,I was talking about the ABS plastic panels that clos69 was asking about.I didn`t think you were saying metal would warp or crack. You said you`ve had no problems with warping or cracking and I was just saying those would never be a problem with metal.I guess we`re just misunderstanding each other.I didn`t know anyone made vinyl covered plastic panels.Prolly not a bad idea.I just prefer metal since that`s how these trucks were made and it has stood the test of time.I`ve never had rust issues with any.

http://www.truckandcarshop.com/catalogs.htm Page 21 from Truck Book

This is where I got mine. If I remember they cost me ~$200 for the pair when I bought them ~ 5 or so years ago and they are holding up very well. Just the back is ABS the front is Vinyl and look just like the CST original panels
