Talking Paradise on hold, line 72'

Here's Thor, he isn't too beastly under the hood, but sure catches the looks of the laydeez. It's got some sort of 350 in it.... not org. but runs decent. It has different cams? I think lol.
oh, it has a 350auto tranny.
I started upgrading a few things on it, replacing the back bumper, side mirror, rear view mirror, all indoor handles, and bought a new instrument panel cover... but dont know how to install it.
I also purchased a jensen screen/dvd/radio player, 2 in-dash speakers, and 2 5x7's(I think) under the bench. I really want to get some subs(because my brother has some) but don't know where they would fit!
I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to find out exactly what motor I have in my truck, or where the numbers are located.
But I cant drive it till 4:20 (april 20th,2008) for license reasons...

In the future - I would like to step the speed up a notch, possibly changing the rear end to some sort of posi trac.
-Raise the height of the truck 3ish inches, back higher than front.
-Get some more larger tires, but not Mudders
-Add a subwoofer or 2
-Redo the paint, remove the trim.
-new headers?

I will post pictures of the inside and under hood when I see Thor again, (hopefully sooner than April)

Re: Paradise on hold, line 72'

From way out West! From the photo's- that looks like a really nice ride. I personally wouldn't change anything about it- 'cept rollin' it with some sweet 20's!
Regarding the motor ID- the casting numbers should be at the back of the motor near the distributor. You may need to do some scrubbing to make them out. Once you do- there are several websites that can decipher it for you.

Now for the subs. There are a couple options for us and our trucks.
1. Build a center console and mount 1 or 2- 8" or 10" drivers in it.
2. Relocate the fuel tank to under the bed between the frame rails. It's safer and opens up some room for a couple low volume sub boxes.
3. Then there's the dooey-bob called a "bass shaker" which is a thin servo transducer that actually uses the vehicle's structure to resonate the low frequencies. I've seen them mounted under the seat or on a panel fastened behind the seat (provided no fuel tank was there!).

Re: Paradise on hold, line 72'

Welcome- personally, I would leave the outside of the truck as it is - it's really clean now, no need to change anything, or at least put it on the bottom of the list. Get someone to teach you about motors -sounds like you could use a little help, and that's important with a 35 year old truck. Think hard about your changes before you make them. Have fun!

First off Welcome to the board! Second, I really like that truck for some reason............

Try checking out www.mortec.com for info on what's under the hood. I would also think about lowering the front of the truck instead of raising the back. Of course that's just my opinion. If you want it high in the back....jack it up!

Welcome!!And,SWEET TRUCK!!I`d suggest waiting and getting to know your truck awhile before jumping into alot of changing around. It`s really nice the way it is,most people would think.Get to know these trucks in general from this site and conversations you get into through others seeing your truck around town.Although it`s yours to do what you want with. It`s good to gather what some of the do`s and don`ts are in the general consensus.Over the years many have altered these trucks only to be cussed as the lame previous owner to the next guy.Yours has survived nicely or effort has been put into reversing lame p.o. mods.

The numbers are located on a pad on the front of the passenger side of the engine block just below the head;
you can decode the numbers here......

Re: Paradise on hold, line 72'

I'm not going to drive it again till April, because I turn 16 on 4/20/08. And it goes into storage for the winter, so I cant take pictures of it right now. I tried to convince my dad to bring it home for a Christmas treat, but he declined sadly. It gets boring driving their cars... Nothin' like having your own.
