tow hooks
Hi found these tow hooks in a truck I just purchased (see attached pictures). The first one shows a tow hook that I am familiar with. The second and third pick show a tow hook/link that I am not familiar with. Is the second and third pictures of a Chevy truck tow hook/link. As I understand the tow hooks in the first picture are worth between $200 and $400.

i dont see how some tow hooks can be worth $200-$400....
buyt then again i dont see how gas can be around $3 a gallon either. |

The reason tow hooks are priced so high is because of supply and demand. I think the high prices are crazy but people pay for them. I bought a pair for a couple hundred bucks myself. I have never seen the type in pics 3 and 4.

Are those factory rear hooks?They`re rare and would bring good money. I`m surprised to see a part# on those others.They appear to be home made from a chain link and flat stock. I`d sure like come across factory rear hooks laying in a truck.Prolly be H-E-double hockey sticks to remove after 35+ years of road spray.

Anyone have any more ideas about the chain link tow hooks. They are clearly manufactured for some vehicle because they are identical (they have the same exact bend angle as well as the angle of the link on the metal bar, hole location and even the cutt off edge on the bar) and both have the same part number on them. They are not a home made.

The first set of hooks are generic and were used on many trucks and busses, they usually go for around 20.00 on Ebay. The second set I have never seen before but by size I would think maybe they were used on a much smaller vehicle or maybe some kind of hookup for the safety chains on trailers.

So these first hooks are not for a Chevy truck??? Rear hooks?? Is there anywhere I can find info on what hooks came on the 67-72 trucks? (and pictures)

The tow hooks in your picture i have seen mounted on top of the bumpers on bigger trucks, and under the back of trucks and busses. probably around $20. I have not seen the other style you have. If you look in the FAQ, i have pics of all the 67-80 style tow hooks. Maybe someone can post a link. Eric

That`s what I want to see.I`d like to save those pictures for reference.Most medium duty hooks I`ve seen are 3pt mounted.That threw me off and I thought these could be the GM rear hooks.I`ve never come across a set.
