any 73-87 guys running 8" bags up front?

Like the title says, are there any guys with a 73-87 running 8" slam bags up front? I am running SD.com plates with ART upper and lower arms so if someone is running ART arms with these bags let me know if there is any rubbing or anything. I have a brand new set of 7" bags but I am thinking about running some 8's to be able to have a lower psi at the same height as a 7" bag.

Thanks for any help on this.

Sorry all the trucks I've ever done always had 7's in the front. I did use a set of 8's on a 73-87 dually with a big block, but it had factory control arms, and we had to trim the end of the sway bar a little for clearance.

I'm doing a large C30 box van right now with DJM lower arms and it uses a 7 to pick it up. Works out fine with the 3" drop spindles and the lower control arms.

I had 8's in the back of my 97 there just a little too soft, why would you want a lower psi at ride height? is it too stiff? if so change the position of your plates if you got room to move them and still lay out the bags are suppose to be in a certain position at ride height, there also might be some clearence issues to the spindle not sure never even tried to install up front, even dually's with diesels and big blocks lift fine with 7's

how does that ride mine rides good w/o shocks w/7's im at 90 psi at ride height maxed out at 150 psi and how much frame did you cut w/7's they will fit just cutting a little off the bottom didn't cut into the side at all at first but realized it still hit the top of the bag at ride height which it didn't rub but it did rest there it was like that for 3 years 60'000 miles and didn't rub into bag at all just a clean spot

But back to the original question not sure on the 73-87 since the 88-98 is a way different frame

8's up front is something that is debatable. do they fit? yes. do they ride good? with the right shock setup. that is where the problem lies, is what you do about your shocks. an re8 is a soft bag, but with the right shock, you get a good ride. is it noticeably better then a re7? no. i would keep the 8's for the rear, and again, use a good shock and you'll be more then pleased with the setup.

thanks for actually answering my question. I didn't want to hear all that other stuff. No offense to the other guys. I just wanted to know the answer to my questions

So if you had a pair of RE7s and RE8s you would put the 8s in the rear?

yes and the 7's in the front.. you want a soft bag in the rear where there is no weight. a small bag (and a 7 isnt small, i'd personally run 7's all around, but a 6 is where you are too small) and the ride will be crappy as hell.
