Re: 1 of a kind.Craigslist ad.Hope its a typo

v10 is the name of the 4x4 trucks, they had the R10s and V10s i think, R being 2wd and V being 4x4.

Dont quote me, but i think thats how it is in the 87-91 years on old body style trucks

Not really too bad of a truck. I think the uneven lift is a little wacky. If it's mechanically solid, and somewhat rust free, I'd offer 1500. It is fuel injected, that's a plus.

The title on my '87 says "R10". It said "PK" on the seller's title, weird. "V10" was definitely the designation for 4x4. Or maybe it's got a Viper engine!

late 87 was when the new body style (88-98) trucks started selling. To make a distinction between the two, they called new ones C1500 and K1500 and named the old ones R10 and V10 for 87 and then for 88-91 Suburbans, Blazers, and Crew Cabs.

You can't forget the limited few regular cab R & V series. Most people don't realize that the commercial versions of the Chevy and Gmc pickups kept the 81-87 look up till 92 when they changed them as well as the burbs and crews.

To level it out, the opposite of 3" drop in the front and a 6" flip in the rear. There's that general tendency to have both lowered and lifted truck level, unlike stock trucks that have about 2" rake - I personally do not agree with that, but that's how what most lowered and lifted trucks I've seen have been done.

Re: 1 of a kind.Craigslist ad.Hope its a typo

All of our bodystyle trucks that were built from 1987 - 1991 were designated R/V to distinguish them from the 1988-1999 C/K pickups.
All 3/4 Ton and up pickups, crews, blazers and Burbs were R/V in our bodystyle, and 1/2 Ton Pickups and later 3/4 Tons were C/K in the new bodystyle.

R = 2WD, V = 4WD. Not a typo at all.

Re: 1 of a kind.Craigslist ad.Hope its a typo

Ok here's the story as I understand it about the great CK-vs-RV contriversy;

'73- mid '87 model trucks were classified as "C" & "K" models.
"C" was for all 2 wheel drive Trucks, Blazers & Suburbans from 1/2 ton to 1 ton (10,20,30)
"K" was for all 4 wheel drive Trucks, Blazers & Suburbans from 1/2 ton to 1 ton

In mid 1987 General motors released the new body style "CK" Truck in regular cab only and in doing so changed the letter designation for the "old" body style to "RV"
"R" for 2wd & "V" for 4 wheel drive. There are few new body styles out there still that are/were registered as '87 models. Although with the "CK" classification.
The "RV" series was continued through 1991 with the Full size Blazer, Crew Cab and Suburban. Thus the craigslist ad listing as a "V10" simply means it is a 4wd 1/2 ton truck with a V6 or V8 engine is all.

You need to track down the parts book writers and tell them that! They can't seem to get it through their heads there is a difference between the c/k and the r/v! Makes it a real PITA to buy parts for my 89 R 3500 crew!

Well, he does say it has a 305 in it and we all know that is a V-8. I also did not know about the V-10.

They did the same thing all over again during the body change in '98-'99 as well.

Yeah, it is REAL confusing when you try and explain it also. I usually end up saying 1987 instead...

With the introduction of the new CK's for the 1988 model year they even made it more confused yet. You could buy a 1988 "C 30 extended cab dually pickup" only in 2wd. I had wanted to buy a "K 30 4wd extended cab dually pickup" when they were released and was disappointed to have to wait until the 1989 model year. Instead I purchased a new 1988 V 30 dually 4wd regular cab pickup. I still have it. I often tell people it is a 1987 just to lessen confusion!
