Re: cadillac clip

i did this on my 2000 silverado. if you are buying the whole front clip off of the escalade it will all bolt up you will just need to lenghten the headlight wiring if the factory truck wiring is still there. the problem you will run into is the fenders and wheel flares/molding. on the 02s the fenders did not have any skin on them from the lower bodyline down and had 3 recesed bolt holes running across the wheel well. on mine we cut the bottom skin off of a p/u fneder and put it onto the escalade fender. on the later model escalades the flare/molding is part of the fender and would not match up with the rest of the body unless youadded that modling to the truck. i think the kits thay have now come with fenders that are ready to bolt on and to mod is needed. you might check and see if you can order just the fenders from a kit and buy salvage for the rest or just do like i did
here is a pic of the finished

yeah i guess you could its just a pain b/c where they are dont follow the curve of the fender there is a recessed flat area around them. i looked for a picture of what i am talking about but cant find one. i used to have a cd with the pictures from doing the conversion on it but i cant ever find anything since i got married. so if you know of one at a junk yard, go look at it and see what you think. oh and another thing i though of is i dont know if aftermarket parts are different. i used GM stuff on mine

Re: cadillac clip

actually you can almost see what i am talking about in that kit picture

and i found another picture that you can see where there is no skin on the bottom and the other hole. there may be just 2 instead of three

Re: cadillac clip

From the Stylin' website:
"Minor welding is required. The lower section of your existing fenders must be cut off and grafted to the Escalade fenders for proper fit and cladding trim holes must be filled."

I don't think I would ever do this to my truck, but yours looks really sweet!

Re: cadillac clip

i think some of the places that have these kits now have fenders that you dont have to modify. the later models have the wheel flares and lower cladding stamped into the skin so they wouldnt match up at all. i dotn know what year they started doing that though.
