Good deal or Bad deal???

[70' GMC]

It is a dark blue and white GMC, its the model that had the black markings on the grill, it is a 2500 model. The trucks hood is lipped up on the drivers side, where the cowl is. The person wants 900 but I cant see 900 dollars for it. I talked to the mans sister at walmart and she said are you still interested in the truck, I told her a little, but I can't see 900 but 500 to 575 dollars. I will try and get pictures ASAP! I hope you guys can tell me something so I wont wast 500 to 600 dollars on something worser than mine. Im not going to be selling NOTHING ON THIS BOARD WHAT SO EVER.

if your anything like me. a solid body is all you need.

pulling the motor and rebuilding it is really nothing. same with the tranny. if there is no rust, and the hood on your other truck is good. i say take it.

make one good truck out of the two.

Is the 2500 better than the 1500 and is parts interchangeable???

if the body is solid then go for it...then tear it apart and learn how to work on these trucks.

i may regret this...but.

a 2500 is a 3/4-ton, whereas a 1500 is a 1/2-ton.

same body. same everything, except the 3/4-ton frame has a few more braces, and the axles/hubs are 8-lug instead of 6-lug.

if it has "GMC" on the grille, then it's a '67.

and..i think thats about it.

Oh boy --- the 2500 is only better than the 1500 if you need a work truck (lots of people do) The 2500 is a 3/4 ton, just like the new HD's -- if you tow heavy, or regularly deal with heavy things (not including going to the bathroom, ) and just need a big, stocky truck

The big 'ol 3/4 ton makes a dorky looking hot rod -- but are awesome for what they are designed to do

In a pinch, you can probably pull a house off a cliff with one, just like Mel Gibson did with that dually in Lethal Weapon 2

It`s up to you.A 3/4t takes a different approach to customize.I like to enhance the work horse ability with my styling choices.Most girls like 1/2t trucks.I think both can make alot noise.And,the fenders are the same when they hit stuff.The only difference is beefier brakes/wheels/bearings.

Other than saying that you really can't see the difference between a 3/4 ton and a 1/2 ton without looking for clues and details -- I pretty much agree with the rest of this.

Modernizing parts, like disc brakes, are easier to locate for a 1/2 ton than a 3/4 ton (unless you are more or less changing over to a 1/2 ton in the process) and it is kind of silly to choose a 3/4 ton if you want to drop it into the weeds since that just means doing everything you would do to a 1/2 ton plus removing more parts.

Of course; if your budget depends on the gross weight of your change jar then look for drivability and "kind of the way I want it already."

If your plans include; I want it to be wicked fast then skip the heavy work trucks because the difference in frame components will cost you about 40 to 50 hp.

If you plan to customize the be-jezzuz out of it then pick it for the parts it has an the lowest gross weight of lacy brown used to be metal areas.

It actually has cab corners where mine is rusty the truck looks solid. But it has some black on the grill and mine does not.

It looks like this grill but it has faded very badly. Can I get the cab corners off the 2500? and use them on my 1500?

There are rusted corners and corners that haven`t rusted yet.Why use one that`s about to.Or,you may find putty in that corner.It`s a 71/72 grille.The replacement panels are cheap to buy and are already cut.
