my bed.........
so guys i need some cash. im planning and going with a flatbed on my truck anyways but i was hoping to keep my bed in case i wanted to swap back later. but unfortunately i have to have some cash now as i am completely broke and need to get my car on the road so i can get a job and make some $.... i might also have to sell my new holley 600cfm carb and edlebrock performer intake i was gonna use. i hate it but i gotta get on the road. anyways i wanted to ask how much you guys think my bed is worth??? no dents except the tailgate. heres a few older pics. the only thing thats been done to it since these pics were taken is some sanding.
thanks, John

Re: my bed.........
I know this isn't what you asked but if you don't have a flatbed you will have to make one. Metal isn't cheap and if money is an issue you would be better off money wise and labor to keep your bed on the truck. What is keeping you from putting the truck on the road?

Re: my bed.........
well my engine is out of the truck and needs cam, lifters, timing chain, and gears. it slipped timing and has a flat lobe on the cam. the engine only has about 5000 miles on it. i have a automatic ready with everything to install except a shifter and i need to cut the driveshaft and a new cross member. and it needs the whole front end rebuilt as it is in bad shape. and it needs tires. total with about $1000 i could have it on the road and in good shape but i just dont have it. and my car only needs a front seal, but i still owe $250 to the guy i bought it from.

Re: my bed.........
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I think if you replace that bed with a flatbed you're pretty much ruining that truck. I guess some people like them--usually because they have a specific need--but man, that just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
It's your truck though, so I'm sure you have your reasons. |

Re: my bed.........
Hey John,
I have to agree with badraind. You're gonna wish you'd kept that bed later. Believe me I understand needing cash, but you could sell some parts you don't need on ebay and make a few bucks. Just a thought. Tim |

Re: my bed.........
well i agree i will regret selling the bed but as for ruining the truck it is nowhere near stock right now and wasent when i got it. i played around with photo shopping a flatbed on it and i think it will look cool. now if i had another just like it with all original equipment and matching numbers it would look just like it did 40 years ago when i got done. lol but yall are right im gonna keep the bed in case i want to go back. i still have a 84 chevy truck that somebody gave me that has no engine in it that i still havent brought over here, so maybe i can get it over here and grab the parts i need and sell the rest for scrap. with that and the rest of the scrap metal i have around here including a pile of copper i can make a few hundred bucks. that sound like a better idea?
thanks yall.... John
