Re: My SFBD 85 Build-Up

i also added 1 more gusset on the outside to make it look a little better and for a little more strength. i ran out of grinding and flap discs but the welds will get smoothed out tomorrow.

that is where i stand at this time. I will get more pics up as i start to work on it more. Im ordering a tubing bender here in a couple of weeks and also getting new wheels. Im ordering 22x10 and 22x8.5 Intro Pentias for it. i sold the current wheels to a co-worker. Let me know what u guys think. its not too bad for a 19 year old, eh?

Stock floor body drop... not usually a term I see around these trucks.

Re: My SFBD 85 Build-Up

thanks for all the replies guys. i should have some more progress here in a few days. im busy all this weekend but after that its back to the shop. And im doing this in my spare time. I work a full time job to pay the bills and with whatever cash i have leftover gets dumped into this truck. i hoping to be driving it in the next few months. its been out of comission for too long and i miss driving it.

No kidding! I'm deep into the mini truckin scene around here and it's used alot there, but most people on here just say they are Z'ing the frame. Even though Z'ing it doesn't get you a true body drop (it's still like 1/8th" off or something), it's enough for most people.

I love the work man! It's gonna look killer when done!

Re: My SFBD 85 Build-Up

Z'ing the frame is only half the story here. The SFBD term comes in to play when you lower the body by sectioning the frame.

Re: My SFBD 85 Build-Up

yeh and u have to body drop these trucks at least 2 inches before the rocker plants. u can almost lay pinch with a Z but i wanted to go lower. so thats why i went the route i did. not too hard but very time consuming...

I can imagine building the boxing sections of the frame along withh all the welding, welding, and more welding is rather time consuming.

I think you made a wise choice in selling those wheels. I wasn't digging them going with the rest of the truck.
