Re: Tach over 3000??

I was just kidding. What kind of tach is it? Indash or column style? Your motor size match the tach setting? Needle hitting? A little more info would help...

Re: Tach over 3000??

my factory tach would stick at 3000 when i first got my truck, but with enough spirited driving it freed itself up. i would take it out and at least clean it, check for broken, bent missing parts. could be the curse of the black 67 swb, id bet money that the same guy built both of our tachs probably on a friday

Re: Tach over 3000??

if the needle is bent it could be hitting the lens. But I'd bet on 40 years of dust and grit causing the problem.

Re: Tach over 3000??

I think your factory cluster is in serious danger of exploding, and causing serious injury to you while driving. You should send it immediately to me for disposal.

Seriously though, just clean it up a bit and I bet it will start working just fine..

Re: Tach over 3000??

mine sometimes sticks too, its the column, "after-thought" tach as i like to call it.

a good swift hit across the right side usually solves the problem
