Vintage air on I6 in panel or burb.

Ok folks, it has to be asked. I have a 61 Burb as many know. it's got 42999 miles on it. I'm not quite ready to swap out the original 235 just yet due to it being original and under 50,000 miles to the original truck.

I'm considering an A/C setup, but don't know if the vintage air will work efficently enough on a huge compartment like a panel or a Burb. Secondly not sure that the tiny 235 will handel the additional power it's going to rob.

Any thoughts or ideas would be great..

I'd look for a rear a/c setup from a newer 'burb. The way most of them mount, it won't be that hard to modify for the older truck. The big expense will be the hoses from front to rear. Jerry

man don't hate me but a gave a new complete vintage air system that came with my 66 sub to a friend,i wasn't going use it, my advice is not to drive it when its hotsave the money

Are you running a/c on the panel? Just wondering.

I have thought about robbing Rear a/c unit out of newer Burb or van. I'm not so concerned about the look cause I know I can make it look right... Just wondering more about the 235 and running a/c compressor.

An old style A6 compressor will pull some, but not enough to bog the engine.

The PO of my Burb installed an underdash a/c back in the 70's. It doesn't come close to cooling the entire cab but does an okay job of keeping the driver cool as long as it's not over 110 out. I'm gonna install an Old Air system when $ allows. http://www.oldairproducts.com/shop/index.php
