Re: Think I might have lost something today.....

My boss uses Superglue for everything . You might give it a shot . If that doesnt work you might need a couple more brackets like the ones holding the tail lights in . I think that adds character to the truck . Frank

I don't think I'd bother trying to re attach it, it would just make it looked rigged. If the rest of the bed is in that kind of shape it might be home made flat bed time.

Forget super glue, duct tape, brackets or any of that stuff. You gotta' add some REAL class to the old girl. Get hold of some bras and panties and tie it on OR, you could just rebuild the whole thing like I'm doing. LOLL. Have a great day and a good time explaining to your better half where all her undies went. jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

Re: Think I might have lost something today.....

if the bed looks that bad what's the frame look like? That's nasty. I feel sorry for you guys in the rust belt.

As far as the fix goes, chicken wire and lots of bondo. Use rivits to attach the chicken wire to what's left, shape the wire to the general shape and slop on the mud. Shape with a file, sand, prep, prime and paint!!!

Re: Think I might have lost something today.....

Nah, I've got a 1986 GMC Sierra Grande lined up that's missing its drivetrain. As soon as the snow melts and I can get into the back 40 to retrieve it, I'm going to drag it home and yank the body off it. Then I'll do what little needs to be done to it and swap bodies, pitch the cab and front end and make the arse end (GMC's frame and axle, my bed) into a wood hauling trailer.

My engine, tranny, axles and frame are still top notch, so even though the body is rusting right off it before my eyes, the truck is worth keeping if I can get replacement sheet metal on it. And yes, my cab is almost as bad as the bed. I don't need to worry about the ashtray when I'm smoking, just flick it on the floor and it'll get sucked out one of the many rust holes.....
