Split rims

Anybody taken apart split rims ? I have a set and was thinking about taking the centers out in case I want to add wider rims to the factory centers .
"Cage the killer" the sign by our old tire machine use to say . They might make good base for a grinder stand . Or maybe haul them off to the garbage dump and be done with them

I'm looking at a rig that has them, we have a old school shop here, they said no problem
