Re: New Truck!!!!!!!!!
For now I will just leave it like it is. I have a 2wd short step. 71 chev and a 72 short 4x4 frame that I planned putting together, but I might just make the new one a stepside. It will all depend on how I feel about the truck once I get it. The final price was $3601---I feel like I stole it! It looks to be in really good, mostly original shape. I'll put some more E-bay pics for reference.
Thanks, john

Re: New Truck!!!!!!!!!
Here's some more!!!!! It is a 69, but has been upgraded with power steering and disc brakes in the front. Brakes and tranny redone about 6000 miles ago. New Shocks and fairly new tires.

Very nice truck - the bed looks pristine, but it would be with a camper shell on it. Good job -

Re: New Truck!!!!!!!!!
Whoever the seller was hadn’t had that truck very long being that is has the new style CO license plates and LUI number. The smog equipment has me thinking it is a CA transplant.
That is a great survivor truck! Congrats!

Re: New Truck!!!!!!!!!
DirtyLarry,
You are right--it was built in Fremont,CA. The owner bought it from his neighbor a couple of years ago. It is located in SE Denver, almost in your neck of the woods.

Re: New Truck!!!!!!!!!
This was the Sellers description.
You are bidding on a 1969 GMC 4x4 PICKUP in EXCELLENT condition for its age. Just look at the pictures! This would be a great (and easy) restoration project. I bought this truck from my next-door neighbor a few years ago. He was moving and could not take it with him. He had owned it for more than 30 years after purchasing it from his brother-in-law who bought it new. I have receipts dating back to 1974, plus copies of previous titles and the original build sheet. The truck looks good cosmetically. She was repainted about 15 years ago and the paint is showing some chalkiness. You can also see some rust coming through in the pictures. The worst of it is under the diver’s side door. Wheel wells look good. Bed is near perfect. Seats were redone shortly after the repaint. This is NOT a numbers matching vehicle. In the late 80’s, a mechanic inadvertently destroyed the original 350 CID engine. “The engine was destroyed by a screw that fell into the engine and punctured two cylinders requiring a replacement of the engine.” The new engine is a 396, which has less than 20,000 miles on it since the rebuild. This engine runs like a champ! Always starts easily, even when it’s zero degrees outside. The transmission was rebuilt less than 6,000 miles ago. The brakes were replaced 5,000 miles ago – new front rotors, calipers, rear drums and shoes. Four wheel drive works wonderfully. (I’ve run easily through more than a foot of snow.) New shocks last year. Tires are in great shape. The list goes on. It has an after market stereo radio / cassette player. However, I also have the original radio which goes with the truck. The topper is also included, as is a tool tray which straddles the bed inside just behind the sliding rear window. Mechanically, this truck is in excellent condition. The only things I know are not working: The windshield washer motor appears to run but no fluid comes out. Maybe a bad hose? The gas gauge on the main tank does not work. When switched to the right satellite tank it works fine. (Not sure about the left satellite – never put gas in it.) The steering is a little loose, probably because of the large tires. But once you accept that she’s not a sports car you get used to it. Everything else appears to work fine. However, remember this truck is almost 40 years old. Expect some failures due to age. People often ask “will it be safe to drive a long distance?” My answer is “I wouldn’t hesitate to do so, but I make NO guarantees!” Why am I selling? I use this truck to drive in winter because my sports car doesn’t go in the snow. But I’m not a truck enthusiast. I’d like to see her go to someone who loves old trucks and will restore her. Please feel free to ask questions and I’ll answer as quickly as I can. Bidders are welcome (and encouraged) to inspect the vehicle before bidding. I live in the Southeast Denver, Colorado, area. Winning bidder must take delivery at my home, or I will deliver within 50 miles. A $500 deposit via PayPal is required within 48 hours of the auction close. This deposit is NOT refundable. The balance of payment is due within 10 days of auction close and before delivery. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Jan-28-08 at 17:44:56 PST, seller added the following information: Here are a few updates and clarifications: This truck is a GMC "Custom". The original – at least it looks original, but I’m not certain – spare tire and wheel are mounted in the usual spot underneath. A new wheel with a good spare tire equal in size to the four mounted tires is also included and is pictured in the bed. There is a thick rubber floor liner installed with a softer pad on top. (The softer pad lets things slide easier.) The topper was purchased in Oct 1993. The truck had a camper on back before this so the bed is in great shape. The truck has passed a Colorado emissions test every year I’ve owned it. The most recent test was in Nov 2007. The main gas tank holds over 20 gallons. Each of the two satellite tanks holds 8 gallons. These are mounted just ahead of the rear wheels and there is a fill spout in each wheel well. I custom built the center console, which goes with the truck. It is secured to the seat with two straps underneath and can be easily removed. Things that may need attention: The driver’s window needs a little help to roll down but rolls up fine. The spot lights are very stiff to adjust using the inside knob and arm. They need to be taken apart and cleaned well. The passenger spot light has a loose connection. There is a small exhaust leak around the manifold, which causes a ticking sound when the engine is warm. The engine may not be a 396 as indicated above. (See question posted below.) I’ll try to post some new pictures of it tomorrow. The rear window on the topper will not stay up by itself. Need to replace the struts that hold it up. All the lights and turn signals work except the running lights on the left and right rear fenders. There is no switch for hazard lights (must have broke off). There is a modern trailer/towing light plug mounted on the rear bumper. I encourage all bidders to inspect the vehicle and documentation before bidding. I have tried to be as detailed as possible but cannot guarantee 100% accuracy. Please feel free to ask questions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Jan-30-08 at 20:33:42 PST, seller added the following information: A friend suggested I make it known (in case it is not clear from the pictures) that this is a SHORT BED truck.

Re: New Truck!!!!!!!!!
i was watching that truck in my ebay, but was a little far from me. I think the lister screwed himself by stating that it had a 396 originally when it was clearly a small block. Then bidders didn't trust him enough to bid. I just think he didn't know that much about it, i even questioned the disk brakes?? Did you check for sure that it has them?
anyway, good buy, i would have bid if it were 250 miles closer, glad it went to someone on here to give it a good home David
