ignition switch removal-no key

I am rebuilding my 72 longhorn and trying to strip out dash parts. I don't have the original key to turn the ignition switch and use paperclip trick for removal. Any ideas?

Yeah, pop the silver ring out with a flathead screwdriver. Once that's out your good to go.

If you don't mind destroying the ig switch bezel just take a hole saw the size of the inside of the bezel and remove the the pilot bit. Insert and cut.

Hammer and punch is the way to go. You un-screw the bezel as far as it can go. The stainless cap of the ignition tumbler will stop it. Take the hammer and punch and pop it out the back side. I have done it many times. Even if you use a screw driver to pry the stainless cap off first you might still have to punch it. It works! and I haven't destroyed any bezels yet either.
